ABOUT THE ARTIST
I started making jewelry as a teenager, stringing beads into necklaces. About 18 years ago I started working in silver. Primarily, I am self taught, but I haveĀ worked with some fantastic teachers here on Lopez Island. In the past 10 years I have taken classes and workshops at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle.
Much of my work is inspired by the traveling I've done by sailboat, and the wonderful time I have spent with the people of the Pacific Islands. The natural beauty of the ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest has also been a big influence.
I often include text from books, old manuscripts and symbols in my work. I like to finish the backs of my pieces, as if they were to be displayed.
